The Sell-outs?
Some people thought it was kind of odd that Rush, one of the best Canadian bands of all time (as I believe), was absent from the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. They decided that they did not want to perform, which resulted in a lot of talk about the reason why. Some concluded that they were like many other countless Canadian celebrities who "abandoned" Canada by not recognizing their home country and deciding that they were more "American" or would like to be considered an "American".
This is quite false. The band put all talk to rest by admitting in an interview that they did not perform at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver because they did not want to lip-sync.
I think that was a bold and impressive move. Their goal was not to offend their home country at all, they just preferred to ACTUALLY perform (and not pull an "Ashlee Simpson" or "Britney Spears").
Thank you for standing your ground and still being a rock sensation that other bands can look up to.
