I am no die-hard hockey fan, and when I do watch hockey, I am Switzerland (which means I'm neutral). I just call it how I see it.
As far as this Stanley Cup Finals go, I have watched every game of the Eastern Conference and most of the games of the Western Conference. I have noticed a few trends, one being with the referees. In most of the games I have watched, the referees have been making calls either too early or wrong ones. I don't know the exact terminology (and if anyone can help me out here that would be great) but whenever someone made a shot at the goalie, the referees have been blowing the whistle prematurely. I once saw a shot made at the goalie and the puck was chilling about a foot away from the goalie, and a referee blew the whistle! A little ridiculous...
The second thing that I find a little ridiculous is Sydney Crosby's behaviour in the past few games against the Montreal Canadians. Last night's game was the trigger for me to write this blog post actually. His behaviour has created a "sore loser" stigma. Because of his attitude, people who are not Habs fans are turning to the Hab's side.
Sydney Crosby, you are a great hockey player. However, your attitude is ridiculous. You already won the Stanley Cup, the clip of you holding up the Stanley Cup above your head has been seen multiple times and we will continue to see it. I understand that it is the Stanley Cup and in games you pull out any move to win, but last night the game was over and you tried to pick a fight.
I personally think that you should be happy that you lost last night, and two times before, to a Canadian team if any team (but that's my opinion).
P.S. I am not just jumping on the "Crosby is a whiner" wagon and I do watch hockey and know what I am talking about (so does the rest of North America, Crosby fans and otherwise).
