The Rockstar

Thank you to my friend Christina for pointing me in the right direction of this misuse of the word "Rockstar". I am not quite the Rihanna fan so I tend to stay away from her music and music videos, and therefore I totally missed her "Rockstar 101" music video.

Rihanna, you are not a rockstar. You are what we call a POP PRINCESS. The use of the term 'rockstar' has been mistreated and expanded to include any teeni-bopper who sings and makes a lot of money. A rockstar is one who's music has mainly stayed within the walls of the rock n' roll music genre, those who play rock n' roll instruments (such as guitar/bass/drums and even piano), and those whose voices will go down in history (Ozzy Osbourne/Steven Tyler/Bon Jovi/Bryan Adams).

I am not taking anything away from what you have done or achieved in life, but to put a label on yourself as being a rockstar and comparing yourself to Slash as you did in your video is tragic. Soon enough just because you make money and have an album you will be considered a 'rockstar', and those such as Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers will compare themselves to Angus of AC/DC and Getty Lee of Rush.
